The Brothers Way. Gah, I love them.

The beautiful Frank Iero. I know the picture is big, but it's worth it!

Mat didn't even bother to fold Mikey's shirts, shoving them haphazardly into the open overnight bag along with some hastily gathered items of his own clothing.

Mikey was perched on the edge of the bed, his boots on but only one of them laced up.

"Hey ninja boy, we got five minutes before Frankie gets here," Mat said quietly, grabbing their passports from the dresser and placing them carefully on top of the already wrinkled clothes. He zipped the bag shut and dumped it on the bed.

Mikey glanced at him, his eyes wide with a fear Mat so rarely saw in him. Mat tried an encouraging smile, kneeling in front of his partner and taking Mikey's hands in his.

"I'm not going to ask if you're ok, I know you're not," Mat said quietly. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"I'm really scared," Mikey murmured. "I don't know what to expect. All Frankie said was Gerard was drinking and on drugs again, and I...I don't know if I'm strong enough to save him."

"Mikey Way," Mat whispered, leaning up to press a warm, chaste kiss to Mikey's frowning mouth. "You are the strongest person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. And you are not alone in this - you've got me, Frankie, Ray...that little blonde guy."

"Tommy Joe."

"Tommy Joe," Mat repeated. "You're wonderful, Michael James Way. You saved me and I didn't even know I need saving."

"I am a ninja," Mikey admitted with a watery smile.

"Hell yeah you are," Mat agreed, lacing up Mikey's boots while Mikey dried his eyes.

Mat looked up into Mikey's steady gaze. A small smile tugged at the corner of Mikey's mouth as he used a still shaking hand to guide Mat's face to his for a kiss so deep it made Mat forget his own name.

"You guys make great boyfriends," Frankie said from the doorway with a sad smile. "Wanna come with me to London to get mine back?"

"Just gotta make one stop," Frank said, not even bothering to properly park Gerard's Trans Am in Adam's drive way. "Keep the motor running, this is only going to take a few minutes."

Mikey nodded, settling back into the safety of Mat's arms.

Frank didn't bother to knock - he hated waiting for people to answer the door. He had sent Adam a very brief message while he waited for Mikey and Mat to throw their bag in the car, so he knew the singer would be waiting for him.

Adam was waiting, a suitcase about four times bigger than Frank's overstuffed bag sitting by the coffee table. Adam wasn't wearing any make up, his hair pushed back by a pair of sunglasses perched on his head. He had a coat folded over his arms.

"It's cold in London," he said.

"You're coming?" Frank was actually shocked that Adam was not only ready, but willing to go. Frank thought he was going to have to pull some adorable but pushy punk shit, convince him to cave.

"If Gerard is in trouble, that means Tommy Joe is in trouble," Adam replied with a shrug.

"And you love him and want him back?" Frank added with a knowing smile.

"And I love him and want him back," Adam repeated with a shy smile of his own. "I don't know if he's ready to take me back...I don't even know if he wants to see me, but I can't take this anymore."

"Dude, you and me both," Frank said, grabbing Adam's wrist and dragging him out to the car.

Tommy watched Gerard over the rim of his still full glass. To the casual observer, Gerard looked good. Great, even. But Tommy wasn't a casual observer. Those jeans Gerard was wearing were two sizes smaller than the pair he'd been wearing when he came to London. If the shirt he had on was any colour other than white, his skin would look ghostly pale. The alluring flush on his cheeks was artificial, the result of the half litre of vodka he'd downed before they left Brian's and three trips to the bathroom.

Guilt squirmed in Tommy's stomach. He knew what Gerard was up to, and he was worried sick. It hurt him to watch this, watch Gerard giggle and flirt and slip another tiny packet of powder into the back pocket of his jeans. But he had no choice, he couldn't leave Gerard unsupervised.

The time had come to take Gerard home. Tommy knew he would be angry about it, that he'd yell and probably throw something, that he'd exhaust himself and cry himself to sleep. Gerard couldn't bear to go back, not just because he couldn't face what had happened with Frankie. He couldn't go back with a rekindled drug habit, but it seemed like he couldn't function without his new drink and drug crutches. Gerard clearly needed help that Tommy was no longer providing. As much as he hated to admit that he had failed his friend, he couldn't let his pride and determination stand in the way of Gerard getting better.

Sighing, Tommy put his drink down and pushed his way through the crush on the dance floor. He slipped his hand through Gerard's, tugging impatiently as soon as he had a good grip.

"Hey Gee, let's go home," Tommy yelled. Gerard turned to face him, his eyes glassy and unfocused. Tommy felt a jolt of panic deep in his gut as he realised Gerard's nose was bleeding.

"What, why? Tommy Joe, party's just getting started," Gerard slurred, swaying in Tommy's tightening grip.

"Ok, we don't need to go home. Let's just go outside for some fresh air, yeah?" Tommy suggested, trying to sound relaxed. Gerard shrugged and followed Tommy outside.

The alley way was dark and empty. Tommy could make out the vague shape of a man standing under a street light at the end of the alley, but it was semi-private at least.

"I feel kinda sick," Gerard groaned, reaching out for the wall. He braced a hand against the cool brick, the other clutching his stomach.

"You alright, Gee?" Tommy asked, placing a hand on Gerard's back. He flinched as he felt Gerard's spine under his fingertips.

Gerard started wretching pitifully, his whole body trembling. Tommy looked away, knowing Gerard didn't exactly enjoy people watching him throw up.

"Oh shit," Gerard whispered, staring wide eyed at the hand he'd used to wipe his mouth.

It was covered in blood.

"Gee?" Tommy said, his own voice quivering as he spun the singer to face him. There was blood running down Gerard's chin, his eyes so wide they looked pale and empty.

"Tommy Joe?" Gerard gasped as his eyes rolled back in his head. His knees folded so suddenly Tommy was caught off guard, and they both collapsed to the concrete.

"Gerard!" Tommy yelled, scrambling to pull Gerard's head into his lap to check if he was breathing.

He didn't notice the man at the end of the alley start running, it wasn't until he was kneeling beside them that Tommy looked up.

"Is he breathing?" The man asked, grabbing Gerard's hand and pressing two fingers to Gerard's tiny wrist.

"I...I think so," Tommy replied, forcing the words through the lump in his throat. "Hey, I know you."

The man met Tommy's eyes, his own sandy blonde hair dangling across most of his face.

"I'm Bob," the man said before returning his attention to Gerard. "Gee, I'm here. I told you I wasn't leaving, didn't I?" His voice was soft as he spoke to the unconscious singer. "I'm just going to move you onto your side, ok? Can't have you choking, dude."

Tommy could only watch as Bob moved Gerard onto his side. He stroked Gerard's hair back from his face as Bob called for an ambulance.

"I'm really sorry, Gee. This is all my fault."

"Pretty sure it's not," Bob said. "Ambulance is on the way. Has he come to yet?"

"No," Tommy replied, feeling another wave of worry crash over him. "You seem to know what you're doing."

"I was there first time round," Bob's voice was sad as he looked down at his friend.

"He's going to be ok, Tommy Joe. Fucker's too stubborn to let this get the better of him, trust me."

The paramedics arrived in a hurricane of noise and blinding lights, barking questions that Tommy couldn't answer as they pulled Gerard out of his arms and on to the stretcher.

"We only have room for one of you in the back," one of the paramedics said while the other climbed into the driving seat.

"You go," Bob said. "I've got some friends to meet at the airport."
