Gerard and Mikey Way

Adam followed Frank, Mikey and Mat through the corridors of the hotel. Mikey was talking to a blonde man Adam didn't recognise in hurried, pained whispers. Frank was holding the handles of his bag so tight his knuckles were bleached white.

Tommy Joe was sitting alone in the waiting room, his white button down shirt stained with blood. He was staring at nothing, eyes completely blank.

"Tommy Joe," Adam gasped, pushing through their small group to kneel in front of Tommy.

Tommy met Adam's searching gaze through his long eyelashes, his eyes wet and miserable. Adam reached for Tommy's hands, only to realise they were stained with dried blood.

"Are you ok?" Adam asked in a hushed whisper.

"S'not mine," Tommy mumbled. "It's Gerard's."

"Come with me," Adam said, pulling Tommy to his feet.

Tommy followed without a word, letting Adam lead him into an empty bathroom. The lights were too bright, making Tommy's tired eyes sting. He leaned back against the bank of sinks while Adam grabbed some paper towels and filled one of the sinks with lukewarm water. Adam added a couple of squirts of the liquid soap by the sink, and dipped a paper towel into it.

Adam began to carefully clean the blood from Tommy's hands. There were smears of dried blood on Tommy's neck as well, so Adam grabbed another paper towel, dipped it in the water and bought his hands to Tommy's neck.

Tommy bowed his head, standing close enough that his forehead was resting on Adam's chest. He clenched his fists in the back of Adam's shirt, as if he was terrified of what would happen when Adam stepped back.

"Tommy," Adam murmured. "You need to let me go for just a second."

"I can't," Tommy whispered. "Just...I need a minute."

"Take all the time you need," Adam told him, hesitantly pressing his lips to Tommy's hair.

After a moment, Tommy's grip loosened and Adam was able to pull away. Tommy sagged back against the sinks, as if being close to Adam was the only thing keeping him on his feet.

Adam was wearing two shirts, a short sleeved plain tee over an old cotton long sleeved shirt. He pulled them both off quickly, seperated them, and pulled the short sleeved shirt back on.

Tommy watched through half lidded eyes as Adam unbuttoned the blood stained shirt he'd borrowed from Brian what felt like a life time ago. The blood had soaked through, staining the skin of Tommy's stomach. Adam cleaned the blood away without meeting Tommy's gaze, eyes fixed on the pale skin as the blood washed easily away.

"Up," Adam croaked, tapping Tommy's elbow. Tommy raised his arms and Adam pulled the long sleeved top, still warm from his own body, over Tommy's shivering frame.

It was far too big, the sleeves hiding Tommy's hands completely. Adam smiled softly as he pushed the sleeves up to Tommy's elbows. He hated the circumstances of their reunion, hated that it had to happen like this, but being in Tommy's presence again, having permission to touch him, even if it was just for practical reasons, made Adam happier than he had been in months.

"Hi," Tommy croaked, tipping his head back to meet Adam's gaze.

"Hey," Adam replied, cupping Tommy's jaw in his shaking hand and bringing their mouths together.

Tommy moaned into the kiss, parting his lips for the warm sweep of Adam's tongue. He clung to Adam's broad shoulders, holding tight as the world fell away, leaving just the two of them, together as they always should have been.

They seperated, gasping for breath. Tommy buried a choked sob in Adam's neck, his whole body shaking as the sobs tore painfully from his chest.

"I missed you so fucking much," Tommy gasped as Adam trailed soothing hands down his back.

"I missed you too, Tommy Joe, you have no idea," Adam mumbled. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for everything. I never wanted to hurt you. I don't ever want to hurt you."

"I know, I believe you."

"There's no excuse for what I did, I was scared and I missed you but I know that's not an excuse. I promise, Tommy, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make this up to you," Adam begged, tripping over his own words. He couldn't let Tommy just slip away again, wouldn't survive it third time round.

Tommy just nodded, pressing his mouth against Adam's in a desperate, but chaste kiss.

"I'll forgive you if you forgive me, baby boy. Clean slate. No guilt, no making amends. Just you and me, starting again right here," Tommy said, pressing another sweet kiss to Adam's mouth.

"Sounds good to me," Adam agreed, tucking a long strand of hair behind Tommy's ear. "I love you."

"I love you," Tommy repeated, easy as falling off a log. He hadn't stopped loving Adam, even when he was hurting, even when he was at his most angry, he loved Adam.

They shared a smile, soft and secret, before leaving the bathroom together.

"We've run every test there is," the doctor said. "Apart from being a bit under weight, and exhausted, Gerard is fine. I think the blood, alarming as it must have been, was just his stomach reacting badly to the amount of alcohol he had consumed."

"Oh thank god," Mikey groaned, holding his head in his hands. Mat stroked the elegant curve of his spine.

"He's going to have to be careful, his body clearly is not equipped for binge drinking," the doctor warned. "We want to keep him overnight, just to make sure, but then he will be free to go."

"Thank you, doctor," Frank said, relief evident in his face as he shook the doctor's hand. "Thank you so much."

"He's awake, if you want to see him. But one at a time, don't overwhelm him," the doctor told them before leaving.

"Mikey, you should go first," Frank suggested.

"I don't know what to say to him," Mikey admitted in a quivering whisper. "I don't know how to make him feel better."

"You don't need to say anything," Mat told him. "I'm sure he'll feel better just from seeing you."

Mat pressed a kiss to Mikey's temple. Mikey nodded, got shakily to his feet and headed down the corridor to Gerard's private room.

He closed the door behind him and leaned against it, trying to catch his breath. Gerard was sitting up in the bed, his black hair a riot around his face. He was frowning, and he was thinner than their mom would like, but he was still Gerard.

"Hi, Gee," Mikey smiled, pushing away from the door and heading to the bed.

"Hey, Mikeyway," Gerard replied, smiling sadly.

Mikey hugged Gerard so hard he made his ribs hurt, but Gerard didn't think of pulling away. They didn't say another word, but they didn't need to - everything was going to be just fine, Mikey could tell.
